"Illness is a state of disintegration and wellness is a state of integration."

Dr Paul C. Wang

ACUPUNCTURE IS A FORM OF TREATMENT WHICH AIMS TO RESTORE THE BODY'S ENERGETIC BALANCE. IT IS A RELAXING FORM OF TREATMENTS WITH BENEFITS FOR THE WHOLE BODY.

Acupuncture is one component of Chinese Medicine. Treatment involves the insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific sites along the body’s meridians to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of qi through the individual. Acupuncture takes a holistic approach to understanding normal function and disease processes and focuses as much on the prevention of illness as on the treatment.

THE TRADITIONAL MEDICINE OF ANCIENT CHINA UTILISED MULTIPLE STRATEGIES TO MAINTAIN HARMONY AND PREVENT ILLNESS WITHIN THE BODY, BUT ALSO FOR THE RECTIFICATION OF DISEASE ONCE SYMPTOMS OCCURRED.

This system of medicine is still practiced today by degree qualified Chinese Medicine Practitioners and incorporates: herbal remedies, acupressure, acupuncture, auricular therapy (ear acupressure/acupuncture), moxibustion, ga sha (a type of massage using a specific tool), tui na (massage using knowledge of the meridian system), cupping, microbleeding, tai chi, qi gong, and dietary and lifestyle advice.

Dr Simone Ormsby uses a variety of techniques at every treatment, according to the presenting signs and symptoms in the patient, on the day. Simone prefers a one-on-one style in which she predominantly stays with the patient for the entire treatment time, adjusting techniques throughout the session as required, keeping in mind appropriate dosing for the constitution, age and condition of the patient.
