After completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Exercise Science in 2007 Alyson’s passion for helping people developed leading her to complete her Masters of Physiotherapy in 2009.
Since graduating Alyson has gained physiotherapy experience across a variety of locations including ICU, surgical wards, maternity wards, sporting fields, and private practice.
Since 2013 onwards Alyson has worked primarily in a multidisciplinary practice focusing on the general population including sporting injuries, and general aches and pains. Alyson has a specific love of dry needling as a treatment.
Although Alyson enjoys treating all populations she has a specific interest in Womens Health. Her love of womens health started before she graduated from her physiotherapy degree, starting in the maternity ward of Auburn hospital. Since this time she has treated and helped women through all stages of life from pregnancy pain through to pelvic floor strengthening. As part of her role she has taught both antenatal and post natal education classes helping mums learn about their bodies journey from pregnancy through to their safe return to sport.
Outside the clinic Alyson is kept busy with her young children. She enjoys spending family time outside taking her children walking, to playdates, and camping.
Alyson Sommerville is fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
